Brett Kavanaugh comes across as a spoiled, entitled man-child who has been stroked all his life for 'success'. He is every 80's teen sex comedy villain all in one.

In other words, he's exactly someone you'd expect Trump to appoint, since Adam's assessment also applies to Trump himself.

That is an interesting read, Brian. Coincidentally, I read Michael Lewis' first book just a few books back. By his account, what a clusterfuck that transition was. Scary to have someone in charge who first of all knows bugger all about the Federal Government and then second (and even worse) thinks it's unimportant that he knows bugger all about the Federal Government.

Hard to know who comes off worst out of that account.

I know many have speculated that Kavanaugh is the pick because he openly stated the president can do no wrong and that the rush is to get him approved before the mid term elections. However, someone pointed out that Gamble v. US 17-646 is on the SCOTUS schedule for October. This case involves the Separate Sovereigns doctrine where federal and state charges are viewed separately and therefore someone can be prosecuted in both courts for related charges. The case argument is that double jeopardy is a result and that the doctrine should not apply. If Kavanaugh is on the court and tips it to a 5 to 4 ruling then Separate Sovereigns would no longer apply and that separation between state and federal charges would go away. So why is that important? Currently, Rump can pardon Paul Manafort, but he would still be charged in state court, but if Separate Sovereigns no longer applies then the pardon power would extend to the state level as well. Stuff like this makes you wonder.

Not at all. It was a VERY calculated move, nominating BK. I would say, Trump knew what he was doing, but he really hasn’t a clue. His advisors knew what they were doing and I’m sure had to explain it to him in one syllable words.

Is there not one Republican with any sense of country over party? Does anyone really want this guy as a Supreme Court Judge?

His explanations of these definitions are pitiful and show he is willing to lie (was he under oath)? Do people honestly believe this stuff?

Neil L., I believe that there are several Republicans with sense of country over party - but that they know that keeping their mouths shut means that they won't get voted out come November (or November 2020, or November 2022.)

They'll support the US... but they're cowards who won't speak out against the Republican agenda. John McCain would have been one to speak out... but I am sure that there are no others like him in Congress.

There hasn’t been yet. The only ones even remotely willing to speak out against Trump and his agendas aren’t even running for re-election.

So, McConnell & Republicans in the Senate blocked Merrick Garland for months because he was nominated by President Obama.... NOW they want to rush an FBI investigation into multiple sexual allegations in less than a week to vote for Trump's nominee??

Trump continues to rant on and openly mocks a woman who's been sexually harassed.... what he said at his rally about Dr. Ford was disgusting... the laughter from his audience toward a sexual assault victim was horrific.

This is America.

-C!
