Well, the 2nd Amendment does guarantee quick and easy access to guns. It's not spelled out clearly, of course, but it's there between the lines if you look hard enough. Or so I'm told.

I'll let this article speak for itself concerning Christian, specifically Southern Baptist, support of Trump:

Those people have already turned off a major part of their brains, so embracing Rump isn't much of a stretch.

Amendment 2 guarantees the right to bear arms. Anything that diminishes that right, such as requiring a permit for open carry, is unConstitutional.

Easy access means "on my person".

The Second historically meant that militias formed and supervised by the government had the right for their members to own weapons. Without a standing army, being able to summon up a group of armed men on short notice was an urgent need. Arguably the US Army and National Guard made the Amendment obsolete.

In the past half-century, that right has been unbelievably liberalized beyond the Founders' intent, to the point where (as was not intended) SCOTUS held that there is an *individual* right to own a weapon; essentially, the militia part of the Amendment is invalid because it is not enforced.

On that basis, the Second Amendment is not what the Founders envisioned.

Lisa Simpson: The 2nd Amendment is just a remnant from revolutionary days. It has no meaning today.
Homer: You couldnt be more wrong Lisa. If I didnt have this gun, the King of England could just walk in here any time he wants and start shoving you around. Do you want that? Huh?

The NRA has played an insidious role in perpetuating their agenda,
feeding paranoia and false information. Much like our current president,
without a boogeyman, they wouldn’t have a platform, nor the support
that they do.

And of course those founding fathers would've forseen things like hundred round ammo clips and semi-automatic weaponry that could be made nearly fully automatic with a cheap bump stock etc.

It is a freedom though, and a lot of people want it, with minimal legislated responsibility; must have a lot more trust in their fellow man than most you'd think, but of course actually it's a fear thing that sells a vast number of the weapons.

The NRA has morphed into a manufacturer's and retailer's lobby as much as anything else.

Meanwhile, Republicans continue to be grateful for the dignity and honor Trump has restored to the White House.

What stood out for me this past week:

Of all times to criticize Lebron James, Trump chooses the week James opens the "I Promise" school—one of the most generous, innovative and profound acts of philanthropy of any athlete in history.

Donald Trump had to pay $25 million for ripping off university students.

Lebron puts kids in school. Trump puts them in cages.

yuuuuuge!

If they get his tax info he will be in the same trouble as Manafort, being as they knew each other for so many years he would no doubt have been involved in at least some of the tax evasion and foreign sheltering/laundering schemes. They already had Trump on a scheme to avoid paying taxes on imported jewelry which involved empty boxes being mailed within the U.S., he should have lost his NJ casino license over that one.
