I thought we were talking about when McCain ran for the nomination and lost it to Bush Jr. Not when he lost his mind and picked Palin as his running mate when he ran against Obama.

The problem with John McCain is he's a flip flopper - remember that term, they said John Kerry was. No one flips or flops like a Republican, and whatever manner of creature the orange Putin puppet is.

For every bold statement McCain makes, he either makes ten stupid ones or misses the opportunity to speak out. I admire his service and unlike the treasonist in the White House, greatly respect POWs - few braver than McCain. As a politician though, he lost me many years ago. When the Rove/Bush machine painted him as mentally unfit and fathering "black babies" and he remained with the party, I lost respect. When he had his second opportunity and allowed the party to foist a mental midget like Sarah Palin on him, derailing his run, I lost whatever was left of respect.

He says the right things occasionally now that he's near the end of his career and sadly his life, but even nowadays he will sit there and do nothing to change perspective in his party. The Democrats making noise will not make a difference, it will take brave people on the right to stand up to the NRA dependent idiots in the Republican party. McCain doesn't do enough, but then few do.

One of the biggest disappointments was his "questioning" of James Comey. Obviously he's not well, so I'll let him slide on that one, but a recent example of missing his mark. Great patriot and person, not a good politician or help to America's latest threats.

Trump’s lead lawyer for the special counsel investigation, John Dowd, resigned. (According to people briefed on the matter, days after the president called for an end to the inquiry.)

This is a clear indication of how deep Trump is involved in the Russian scandal besides all the personal, salacious ones.

Thought - since the GOP got their crippling tax break and their stolen Supreme Court seat, what's in it now for them? One would assume that they all hate Trump as much as we do and were using him for their ill-gotten gains, plus a patsy to blame if everyone complained. But now? Anyone else think King Putin has dirt on GOP elite and they know about it? Given what was done in the election, not out of line to assume they hacked email and have dirt on all of them.

If this sounds far-fetched (it's not), then what other good explanation is there for supporting the treasonist in chief? It can't be fear of the base - the base isn't helping in the special elections.
