I got a strong Wrightson vibe from that GL piece. It is impressive.

Lloyd, that is a very nice JLA page you have there.  Don Heck was such a fine artist.  I just wish he would get the respect he deserves.  I know you know this, but you are very lucky to have that page.  Such a great page with DC top characters perfectly rendered.
Which I feel we will never see again in a published DC comic.Sad.

The Heck page is very nice indeed.  Congratulations.

Really like the Sienkiewicz Question and the Newton Green Hornet (the other stuff is nice, too, but I'm only jealous of those two :-) ).

Finally got around to scanning some recent acquisitions.  First up, Dr. Mid-Nite and, ummm... "Moon-Girl" by Terry Beatty:

(Kind of a "What if Betty Kane had tied her cart to a different horse back in the 50s?" :-)

A Terry and Burma post-Caniff reunion by Dan Spiegle:

(Ended up getting a Christmas card from him this year, which was neat.)

Inspired by comments made by JB awhile back about how the Doom Patrol owes a lot more to the FF than the X-Men.  An issue #86 switcharoo by Fred Hembeck:

And last, but certainly not least, the piece that nearly broke Fred Hembeck. :-)

The latest and last addition to my JSA (40s-80s) vs. Spider-Man villains (#1-50) series, a "cast afterparty" featuring various and sundry supporting cast members from the individual Justice Society member's series and the Ditko Spider-Man run.  (Hence the non-Romita Gwen and obscured MJ.)

Please allow me an indulgence and forgive the block of text that follows.  For those who came in late, the rest of the pieces in the series (page/post #):

105/22 - Johnny Thunder/Thunderbolt vs. Xandu and the Beetle by Robert Pope
107/12 - Power Girl vs. John Jameson and Rhino by Adam Smith
107/14 - "cover" by Dan Avenell
110/15 - Star-Spangled Kid vs. Shocker by Dick Ayers
110/16 - Starman vs. Looter/Meteor Man by Ramona Fradon
110/17 - Red Tornado vs. Vulture II by Keith Pollard
110/18 - Huntress and Robin vs. Kingpin by Dick Giordano
122/20 - Green Lantern vs. Crime-Master, Tinkerer, Spider-Slayer and the Living Brain by JB
122/21 - Hourman vs. the Lizard by Geoff Isherwood
125/7 - Red Tornado, Wildcat and Mr. Terrific vs. Big Man and the Enforcers by Fred Hembeck (apparently the Big Man discretely withdrew while his men were getting pummeled)
125/8 - The Leftovers by Fred Hembeck (featuring a key Lee/Ditko supporting cast member so she wasn't available for an appearance here)
125/9 - Spider-Man vs. some JSA villains by Fred Hembeck (technically belongs at the end "storywise," but I'm sticking with posting order)
131/23 - Atom vs. Scorpion by Ron Frenz
133/1 - Flash vs. Electro by Don Rosa
133/8 - Sandman vs. Vulture by Neil Vokes
156/23 - Spectre vs. Green Goblin and The Burglar by Bob Hall
156/24 - Dr. Mid-Nite vs. Mysterio by Frank Brunner
182/18 - Hawkman vs. JJJ and Dr. Octopus (in case you're wondering why the bird is picking on Jonah)
187/11 - Wonder Woman vs. the Sandman by Anthony Castrillo
190/16 - Black Canary vs. Kraven the Hunter by Paul Abrams
190/17 - Dr. Fate vs. Dr. Doom by Ed Hannigan and Chris Rooks
190/18 - Dr. Strange/JSA Ladies by Fred Hembeck
(Wondering why Inza is a) asleep and b) wearing a Dr. Fate outfit?  Go here. :-) )
222/13 - Superman vs. the Chameleon by Leonard Kirk
339/11 - Batman vs. the Ringmaster and his Circus of Crime (later the Clown's Masters of Menace)

For those who remember that far back (or inclined to explore now), hope you had (have) fun and the next time I have an idea for a 25 part commission series...

Talk me out of it.  Please.  I'm begging you.

Great stuff lately! Nice Hembecks!

But back to Dave Philpot's pieces by Dave Sim--

Great stuff that makes me want to run out and buy his comics.

Thanks for posting that. Thanks to everyone here. Happy New Year!

I love the "cast afterparty"!  Obscured MJ is genius!
