Are the sketches from Simonson done on 11x17 bristol?

I wish the drawings were less rough.

"I wish the drawings were less rough."

I think we all wish that Walt would do commissions. but alas, this is the best you can get at a con and the only commission/tight pieces you can get are from charity auctions- and those are thankfully very pricey. And yes, the ones Jason got were on 11x17, cuz that's what Jason gave him.

and where does the wishing stop? I wish it was in color, bigger, cheaper.... now that's the wish I was making over the weekend!

I wish Garcia Lopez would shower me with free drawings of every character in the DC universe...
I mean, if you're gonna make a wish, wish big!!! :)

Wilson---My two Simonson piece(Flash and Green Lantern) are done on regular 11x17 comic book page. I believe both of Jasons are also. Walt doesn't supply the paper for the sketches. All paper for the sketches were supplied by those who won the sketches. Now usually Hero Initiative does supply artist with paper, which is usually a backing board type of bristol. See my Perez example below, since this was the first time I did a Simonson raffle via H. I., I wasn't even sure if he was just doing a headshot or more, but on saturday quickly found out. 4 of the 5 who won on saturday, used either 11x14 or 11x17, though one winner went and purchased one of those Marvel blank sketch covers to have a full figure Thor drawn on. To be honest, none of us could understand that move. If that winner had asked us for a piece of paper, no one would have said no.

Dave----To be honest, to pay $100 for a full figure from Walt is cheap compared to some artists. The fact that I was able to give him 11x17 page to do it on, makes it even cheaper in price to me. Plus, being able to stand next to Walt and watch him complete the various figures was amazing. He took roughly 15 minutes from start to finish to do each.

Oh, you don't have to tell me! I've been collecting for over 20 years...
I was referring to some of the art I got at the con. Pricey! I hope to post them soon.
I would've loved to spent time with Walt, but these are the things I miss out on due to having to work my table. Tough life... :)

Yeah Dave I feel real sorry for you and your amazing pick ups at the show!  =)

Brian is right $100 is way too cheap for a full figure Walt piece even if it is still a little rough.  I think that bust shot of Beta Ray Bill that was a charity auction went for over $1000 and it wasn't any tighter than the Baltimore pieces.  Definitely not 11x17.  Having big paper leads to big things.  ;)

Brian - The piece he was talking about was a two figure piece where they had a Tim Sale Batman and a Walt Simonson Manhunter on the same board.  It was pretty nice.
