O Derek kiddo, that would be Zatanna sporting her 1970's look. I love Dillin's DC work. Along with Garcia-Lopez, when I think DC, he is the guy who captures my mind. Nice pick-up.

When I picked up and issue of the JLA, I knew Dick Dillin's art would never disappoint. He just doesn't get the credit he's due for the great storytelling he did.

I made a change request once, the artist had drawn an energy signature around a character's hand like she was blasting and that's not her powers. Not a biggie but it would've bugged me on the final version. Artists tend to joke to me and my friends about the amount of effort we put into creating proper reference. We usually make montage sheets of the costume we want from different angles and showing them using their powers. Granted, we tend to get obscure characters so it's not like we're just requesting Batman. When you're requesting Roulette from The Hellions or Sidewinder from The Serpent Society, the artist is going to need some help! Love all those Pelletier pages, Fred. I may have to pick up a couple more War of Kings pages myself.

Thanks, Fred. Other than the 1,000 pin-ups on eBay for Zatanna, I don't think I have ever read a comic with her in it. So my only reference in my mind is fishnets and top hat. Thanks for the response to my question, John. Yeah I definitely supply ref if I figure the artist may not know well enough.

Justice League of America #137, pg 9Pencils by Dick Dillin, inks by Frank McLaughlin Green Lantern gets more than he bargained for from Brainiac---fortunately Ibis of Earth-S is on the way! The old JLA/JSA crossovers were an absolute highlight of many a summer afternoon, especially when other characters were added to the mix. I loved meeting 'new' characters through these stories! As several folks have already mentioned, Dillin doesn't get anywhere near the credit he deserved for shaping the look and feel of the DC stable of characters during his career.

That is a nice Colossus. Reminds me of the Leonardi/Green version.

[KEVIN SNAPS HIS FINGERS] That's what it is Joe. I'd thought the style was familiar but I couldn't place it.

Weird, I don't see Jason's Colossus by Ken Lashley when I'm logged in.??? *.(He's good stuff, I have a Wolverine piece by him from 1995. I'll dig it out and post it sometime) * nevermind, it turns out that I had Jason on ignore. (!?!) -THAT'S weird. I've never purposely put ANYONE on ignore. I have no idea how that happened. umm, carry on!

Lars, I have had that happen as well. I usually check every 2-3 weeks just to make sure I haven't added anyone to the ignore list on accident.
