It's number 8, the death of Barry Allen.
mikesamazingworld is a good resource for showing all of the comics that came out in a given month.
I was such a Marvel kid, that I was blissfully unaware of what was going on at DC at the time. While JB was still doing major work at Marvel, DC was laying the groundwork for him and several other Marvel stars to move over. BTW, for a few months up until the previous month, Jerry Ordway inked both JB's FF and Perez' CRISIS at the same time!

Also, it's kinda freaky that all 4 of JB's books are all adjacent to each other like that. It's a coincidence since the titles are mostly arranged in vertical alphabetical order.

I bought Alpha Flight 29 from a UK newsagent, one of the few times I found US imports in a high street newsagent during my prime comic-reading years. I was so close to getting the good stuff! Just a bit late. Began picking up back issues a few years later.
I've never even heard of RAD. Looking it up online, I can see why!

JUNGLE FEVER, judging by the comics, filmed March/April 1990:
JB missed representation by one issue - the Nebula Avengers cover was one month after he left both Avengers titles, and this is before he picked up IRON MAN or SHE-HULK - so all he had this month was NAMOR #3.
Useless fact - they didn't film the movie in Bensonhurst as stated - this is actually Mill Basin, where I lived for 10 of my adult years - I used to get my hair cut at the barber shop shown behind Nick Turturro.

It's really more about anecdotal evidence that high-grade newsstand issues are rarer due to rougher handling, Chuck Rozanski ginning it up to boost sales, and fanboys wanting to think they have something special. It's obviously legit that after direct sales overtook newsstand sales ~1986 that the newsstand issues are rarer, but I am not at all convinced that pre-1986 high-grade newsstand comics are "rarer." I'll happily sell any newsstand copies I have at a premium to anyone who thinks differently; however.

Vinny- You're right about Mike's Amazing World dating after the direct market infusion.Prior to that Mike's dates are spot on, at least from the 70's to 1980. I've a couple of landmarks that check out. Also the day of week listed was Tuesday's which I can attest was the most anticipated day for me to be at the local drug store waiting for someone to unbundle that stack of new arrivals sitting next to the spinner.

And for me it was Fridays for the local comic shop. But at some point towards the late-80s, early-90s, I think the delivery day moved to Tuesday, am I remembering that right?

"Man, I love that Avengers annual beneath Alpha Flight. It was probably a decade later that I finally got to read the Fantastic Four annual it paired with." ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------------------
I so loved it as well Brett. And was fortunate enough to read them both back then. (Sigh!) It's such a nostalgia rush seeing it up on the comic rack like that. Those were the days! We really didn't know just how lucky we were.

Certainly newsstand comics were handled more and with less care, but in 1985 about 52% of comics were still sold on at newsstands. It is not until about 1989 when the direct sales reached 75% of the distribution, making the newsstand comics fewer in number and much rarer.
