This group is pretty knowledgeable about all things FF so let me ask...

has Reed Richards ever come into conflict with Samuel Sterns?

I don't think so but someone may know of a Marvel annual or Hulk appearance, so thought I'd ask.

thanks!

Some results from the GCD, based on a search for Samuel Sterns, followed by a searching the results using the browser find. You would have to read the stories to find the actual interaction between the characters.

Immortal Hulk (2018 series) #50

Originally presented in Marvel Feature #11 (1975), then reprinted in Marvel Treasury Edition #5 (1975) - and maybe since, I'm not sure - there's a great Thing-Hulk battle that involves the Leader. Pencils by Jim Starlin, inks by Joe Sinnott, written by Len Wein.  Reed is at the beginning of the story in the Baxter Building, but Ben is whisked away to the New Mexico desert for the clash. And the Leader, as I recall, isn't really even on the planet, so, no, he and Reed don't interact.

Thanks, Steve!
This came to mind because many sites list the smartest people in the Marvel universe but the Leader seems to be missing from some or downplayed in others. For my money, he really ought to be ranked pretty highly, for all that there's no signature discovery or invention unique to him (AFAIK).
If he is to intelligence what the Hulk is to strength, he probably should be up there with Reed, Doom, Hank Pym and Valeria, and way above Bruce Banner and Tony Stark.
As they say, it's not that easy being green.

I’ll invoke my “Specialist Rule”. Since “intelligence” is the only card he has to play—and artificially enhanced intelligence at that—I have no problem with the Leader being smartest of the smart.

Thanks, JB!

You know someone else who doesn't get credit for his brains is Guardian.

He invents a whole new technology using electromagnetism in ways even Iron Man hadn't achieved (though I guess Tony could if he wanted). Then he takes that technology and miniaturizes/hardens it so that it can become a supersuit.

Pretty darned incredible. For my money, Mac has to be regarded as one of the really smart folks of the MU.

Roger Bochs deserves to be on the list too. Creating a robot remote-piloted by brain waves, with zero lag time, is a pretty amazing achievement.

Agreed.

I’ve got Reed in the #2 spot.
