JB, do your Sentinels have their own master plan, or are they weapons aimed at mutants by Trask, or others?

No Caliban!? I have big hopes of seeing him because of Kitty and Willie Evans Jr. (should Willie use Grunt as codename?)
I have always thought that Lucas Jackson from the Thing #4 was Mr.Byrne's way to somehow use his Caliban idea.

Doh! I did it again!

JB, are your Sentinels operating on their own?

Anyway, you already know the answer to this question.

Eep! Ran out of bristol this morning. A reminder—along with lower back pain—of how long it’s been since I worked at my drawing board. I’d forgotten that the “extra” pad was the wrong finish!

Off to the art supply store—where I was just yesterday!!

GRAAAAHHHHHH!!!!

I've already mentioned that I'm feeling Lucas-like urges to redraw the "first issue", as I have progressed further and further into this "series", and my line has become tighter and tighter. (Not something I'm doing deliberately, entirely unconscious). Well, this morning I was looking over the pages, wondering if maybe partially redrawing some stuff would scratch this itch for me, and I came to an unavoidable realization:

This is not a First Issue.*

It works fine as an issue immediately following 137, say 139 or 140, chronologically, as if it came out in 1980. But there's nothing "special" about it. It's a "standard" adventure, such as the X-Men could have had at any point in their publishing history. Change of pace, sure, with MODOK as the villain, but, well, a brand new series (as we like to image this will be) doesn't have a pace to change! And most certainly this particular first issue needs to address a whole lot of stuff from 137 and earlier. The readers need to be told up front and in no uncertain terms that this is DIFFERENT.

Which leads me to contemplations of--yes--scrapping the whole issue. All 38 pages. Starting from scratch, with something that will more properly serve the roll I didn't really have in mind for it when I started.

GRAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Quite a realization and very impressive that you would contemplate "scrapping the whole issue". I bet I'm not alone in that I feel rather nostalgic about those pages already because you were so open with revealing your process, development, etc. Whatever you do, I'm on board for the ride.
