Obviously, tho, I won't be showing any of those pages here*, as this 20 page "preview" is more than enough!!

--------------

So I have to hope we see less artwork knowing that it might increase the possibility of a series seeing print?

JB, you really know how to torture those to care about!

But...

Here's a peek at a subplot page that now doesn't have to wait for the second issue…

The ship, the asteroid base and the hangar deck are traced from models I built in STRATA.

BWS does not mean I am asking for a Barry Windsor Smith effect. It stands for Black With Stars.

As with each time I drew the Shi'ar back in the day, I am struck once again by how WRONG that storyline was in UNCANNY. FF, AVENGERS, sure, there you can put the big cosmic stories. But X-MEN was supposed to be earthbound (the Stranger notwithstanding).

Thing was, Chris always seemed to want to take the characters off into realms in which they did not really belong. I resisted, but when I wasn't on duty--well, recall that the first Annual done on my watch but not by me had an interdimensional Conan avatar, and the second had Dracula!!

While I am happy that Barry Windsor Smith will not be ground to space stuff, I am abuzz at another new piece of art!

I agree about Uncanny being more "grounded" but DAMN you know how to draw to space stuff!

Each year someone posts a "best of" thread and people comment on commissions, stories, etc. from the previous year. This thread is by far the best thread in the last decade. Love the new sneak peak page. Lots of interesting panel layout on top of a great teaser.

So how does the reverse flashback loop effect work on 38 pages ? Will the addtional pages take place after that or will they be added inside the loop ?

I keep my fingers crossed that this series becomes a reality, and that Marvel won't do anything to mess it up!

JB, thanks for sharing all of this great art with us!

If the series finally happens, what people think about having something similar to an X-Men: Elsewhen #0 with a reprint of the Phoenix: Untold Story (no interviews) plus a modified X-Men #138 (perhaps including a recap of the Hidden Years and other stories as Cap America's Secret Empire story) and a new cover?

It could be my imagination but your Marvel character art looks different from your DC character art - I don't know why, but if you drew a nondescript character for one of those companies - I could probably tell which one you drew it for.
