I like what's shaping up as a pairing of Scott and Kitty.

The pencils having grown so much tighter as I tinker, I confess I am being tortured by a burning need to go back and REDRAW all the earlier pages. AAAAARRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

I would really enjoy seeing what you would change about the current work that you have already drawn now that you have stepped back from it for a while.

I was teaching my students recently the benefit to designing fast and following your first instincts, then stepping away for a day or two and then approaching the work again.

Given you work so fast, I've often wondered if you went back and fine tuned your pages days later.

On another note, two things really stood out to me about these two new pages — 1. Xavier's van which you addressed above. 2. The train station. You nailed it. We use the "T" when we visit Boston and THAT is the train stations we see.

The odd thing is if you had asked me a year ago (or even 6 months ago) what my dream project for JB to write and draw would be, X-MEN would not have been at the top of the list. Now I can't imagine it being anything else.

If I could be greedy, I would have Elsewhen and continue Hidden Years.

Perhaps a trifle ironically, this thread has helped convince me HIDDEN YEARS has had its day.

I have to manage my expectations with regard to this thread. I expect no more. But of course I do hope. When it turns up, it is a joy. Thanks, JB, for this gift.

I can imagine that these stories can lose their moment as a creator. Hidden Years gave me an appreciation for the original team I never had. Probably because X-Men was in the reprint period when I got into comics.

JB, can you elaborate? I have an idea why, but don’t want to guess.

Those are amazing pages, if this series officially happens or not, that first issue and the new scene is officially in my head and that is very MUCH appreciated!!!

…that first issue and the new scene is officially in my head…

••

Welllll....

At that breakfast meeting in Boston, CB told me that if this were to actually happen, Marvel would want the first issue to be "double sized"--38 pages. So, I did that.

Obviously, tho, I won't be showing any of those pages here*, as this 20 page "preview" is more than enough!!

____________

* Unless this all falls thru. Then I'll continue the "fanfic" approach.
