Color me a little surprised that Trump not only gave up on Gaetz so quickly, but that he had a backup candidate ready to roll immediately. But lesson learned: the team of the second Trump administration is going to be all about discipline. Whatever chaos comes out of it is by design, rather than of the stochastic impulses of his first term.

I'm taking a sabbatical from the TrumpWatch post. What's done is done there, the people have spoken (if barely).
I'm watching the Democrats starting from now. Open opportunity to focus and on what they say they believe in to be ready to deliver in 2026 and 2028 with messages that resonate for everyone. Whenever I'm approached I'm going to ask them who they've been talking to, who they've been listening to, where they have been going. If it's the same old answer of sticking to their own echo chamber, they won't get my attention, it's time to move on the next person who hopefully gets it. The page has turned. What do you want it to say?

Trump 1 began in genuine chaos and stupidity until John Kelly stepped in as Chief of Staff and established order by insisting that he was the gateway to Trump. Anything Trump got done in his first term was because he was sufficiently tamed to be able to work with whomever was competent in his Cabinet and especially with the majority of Congressional Republicans.

Wondering whether a new "John Kelly" will emerge?

Now the judge in the hush money case is allowing Trump's legal team to file a motion to dismiss. While that doesn't mean it will be dismissed, the fact that he is allowing the motion seems ominous.

Teflon Don indeed.

Just as expected...

Special Counsel Jack Smith files a motion to dismiss the federal indictment against Trump, citing DOJ policy barring prosecution of a sitting president.

Smith reaffirms the strength of the case but says the Constitution mandates dismissal before Trump's inauguration.

Trump watched for over 3 hours on January 6th and laughed and cheered the attack on The Capitol. He's laughing and cheering
again today.

“Nobody is above the law” is a joke.

-C!

I would place the blame squarely at the foot of Merrick Garland whose appointment felt like an apology for him not being on the SCOTUS.

Garland slow walked the case for nearly two years before hiring Jack Smith.

Worst AG in our lifetime? I don't know about that but he certainly sucked.
