Just brilliant! That's all.
I was in the "get someone new to ink this" camp, but, I've changed my mind.
I think Terry SHOULD ink this, and consciously ink it in his X-Men era style. Zips. Fine line Rapidiographs. Charcoal clouds, etc.
I know it doesn't fit the story as well as it would a Space Opera, but, the work would be even more Historic.
That said, even if it stays in pencil, it will have been one of the great reading moments in my life. These pages have widened my eyes more than anything since Joelle Jones and Javier Fernandez.

I'd agree that Austin (or Austin-esque) inks are the way to go. Someone please (PLEASE) correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there's any kind of mechanical tones available any more, at least not in the States. Possibly they may still make and sell in Japan, where there'd be more of a market for them.
But, yeah: this is all historically awesome. Thanks, JB.

Dave, look for or search online for IC Manga Screen Tones. Another popular way to do things is buy clear label sheets and make your own tones in Photoshop. Then print onto the clear label sheets and cut to size for your pages and panels.

Thanks, JB for joy that these pages brought. Lot's of fun.
And was I the only one who saw the Gil Kane face/cheekbones in the top panel, on this page?

I can't wait, but don't want it to come yet. I used to open presents very slowly. Sweet anticipation.

Circular cliffhanger is a perfect way to end a thing which no one had any right to expect.
Like a Beatles reunion or any other nostalgia tinged endeavor -- the road before this project was treacherous with obstacles that maybe were best left unseen.
But John Byrne has set forth this time and seened them! And bested every one!
Thank you!!

While i’m Loving the actual pencils of this story, i’m Also loving the actual story itself. Especially the structure.
Start in the middle, flashback to how we got there & end with the circular cliff hanger (so the actual cliff hanger is something else that we have already seen). Great story & genius structure.
All done as a form of pipe cleaning. Amazing
