Oh, it's no secret. I've been doing it for years. Only the WAY it's done has wobbled back and forth between techniques. Mostly I use the models if I have sets or props that I wish to keep consistent thru multiple shots and angles. I think the time machine in OMAC was the first time I tried it. Then I was using a very simple architectural modeler, that could produce only geometric shapes, so I had to use shapes with shapes. Then I traced the finished model onto the page using a lightbox. By the time I got to GENERATIONS 2 I was using a more advanced program and building models that actually looked like inked drawings. Those I printed onto the same adhesive film I used for my lettering, and mounted right on the page. I also used this technique extensively in HIDDEN YEARS. In this project I return full circle, tracing the models. A more adaptable modeler this time, too! One final note, since there still seem to be people who DON'T GET IT. Using the modeler is the same as using any sort of reference, except that I actually build what is being referenced. It is NOT, as some seem to think, a case of typing in "1940s Batmobile" and walking away while the computer does the rest!
