MODOK!

Just for funzies.

Tho I do find myself wondering how that rocket blast propulsion system of his works. Since I've seen plenty of people having conversations around him in normal tones of voice, I felt I was safe having him "sneak up" on Kitty. But how loud is that thing?

And... maybe the air jets on his chair are just a loud whisper?

15 pages and what I can only assume is a splash on page 16! My guess is there is a whisper mode that was used to get close and then he turned on the louder, quicker jets to close that last 10-15 feet and surprise Kitty.

Catching up on the fun.... aside from the obvious enjoyment of seeing these X-MEN pages and the story unfold, I'm LOVING the page layouts here, JB!!

(Wondering how you decide which angled panels you want to play with from page to page!!)

Mostly they are dictated by the flow of the action. Consider the previous Kitty page. Since most of the action is vertical, I went for vertical panels, shifting only in the last couple to mirror Kitty's disorientation.

MODOK needs to update his chair technology!

(I haven't been to the comic book store in years. This
book would get me back there.)

The horror on Kitty's face. My heart raced a bit on that panel.

I saw a version of MODOK with mechanical spider legs, which I thought was pretty cool. Not sure of the vintage, tho.

Well, there’s an unforeseen twist!  I love the shot of Kitty phasing through the grate!

That was certainly unexpected. I don't recall the X-Men ever fighting MODOK before. Or even A.I.M., for that matter.

Anyway, if there exists science capable of creating MODOK, there's science capable of creating very quiet jet blasts, I sez.

Hm. Just thought of something.

One of my background ideas for Kitty was that when she was in "phase" mode, she did not need to breathe. I drew the previous page with that in mind. But it occurs to me, Chris and I didn't do anything with this, and I don't think Chris used it after I left.

Or did he?

Viewing these wonderful pages really does feel like getting the X-Men back!

Brilliant.

The little kid me is having the time of his life JB. Many thanks.
