Darren Taylor: >> Black, Gold and Red plumeage...it's like you read my
mind! The only three things that are wrong are the toe-caps, sash and
Trojans left leg [that's the bent leg] The leg should be black also and the
sash and toe-caps were to marry up with the plumeage' red. Beyond what
you couldn't have possibly known, the colouring and the "context" (Sky) is
excellent. Thanks very much for taking the time to do this. You
colourists are secretive little devils, huh!? No matter how often I say "Ask
me, I'll send you a larger copy to work from", folk are still busy scratching
away on the smaller posted versions;-)
The rendering on the "Black" side is fantastic Greg. <<
Darren - heh - glad you like. I did it on a whim so I didn't really want to
bother you for a high-rez file... the funny part is I DID have Trojan's toe-
caps, sash + right glove as red to match the plummage, but changed it
right before I posted - guess I should have stayed with my first
impression! Let me know if you're going to ink up that Guardian - I was
going to draw a Vindicator/Guardian myself for the 'jam'!

I usually sketch in pencil in my sketchbook and then decide if I want
to do it in color. Here is an example of the first pencil
sketch and then the finished painting.

That's great work there, it's nice to see some hand coloring, or at least a
very impressive imitation of hand coloring.

Thanks Greg. I doubt I'll be doing anything more with the Guardian piece. If you like that piece, you'll hopefully like the one I went with in the end...which -also- wont be getting inkied-LOL. However having seen Mac's you may have a job there...whooo-boy!

Page one-hundred came and went so quickly huh!!
Feels "dizzy" on this side of the 100....I guess I have centuary sickness;-)
I'll post the sketch page tomorrow as a going away gift before our weeks down time.
What I'd love you guys to do is do a weeks worth of sketches to post when we are back up on the 5th!
...What? "No", I'm not greedy!

I am sorry to disappoint you but I did color it on the computer; and yes, Vlad I am using Painter.

Doesn't disappoint me in the least, it looks hand done, so that's good
enough for me.

I'm really in awe of this work everyone, it's really great stuff, and
the fact that it's pretty much from mind to paper is even more
impressive. Thanks for sharing.

There is some great inking in this thread. I especially like
seeing different people inking the same pencils. You could almost
give someone a lesson in inking from just looking at these
pictures.
Here is another before and after picture.
