Chuck - I remember reading an interview with him saying that (self admitted) he wasn't that -fast- so he got a lot of cover work and was comfortable with that.

Nowadays he'd fit right in...

I can't remember seeing anything by him in awhile, but I could be mistaken.

Vlad - Just like Jim Lee has his own guy, I'm convinced you should be JB's permanent inker.

:) Well thanks. I'm not sure my inks are quite pro quality yet, but I do
enjoy inking JB's pencils, and for the most part it seems people in general
seem to like the combo.

Vlad- Personally i would prefer you ink JB with brush and
crowquill. His stuff is so organic nowadays that the "technical"
look of digital inking leaves something lacking.
Thats just me.
I had the good fortune of having Nelson ink some stuff of mine
and trust me he adds so much, that the printed page loses alot
of it.

Really? you feel that these inks are stiff? Hm, interesting insight.

And for Nelson's inks, I don't want to badmouth him, but I just don't care
for his inks.

If you can, explain the process of digital inking?
Is it all done in the computer? Manipulating levels and stuff?
And yes, though at the time Nelson was a painter(exclusively)
he was a Byrne clone and as such added the BYRNEISM to my
art. Now hes inking on a deadline and is evolving.
If that means i don't like his inking now, thats debateable.
And no not stiff just line weights.

Have to disagree with you in respect to Vlad's overall body of work.  Vlad is one of the few digital inkers that do not leave me feeling like I'm looking at a -computer jockey's- work.

That's just me.

And I'm not getting paid by Vlad to say that.

No manipulation, digital inking as I do it, is just the same as traditional
inking, done by hand, the only difference is that it is done in Photoshop.

Perhaps this should be a different thread, but since I'm so new
I'm reluctant to start one and this seems like a good place for
it.....

Anyone taking/taken submissions to the conventions this year?

My personal perfernce would be for a artist who uses brush and quill and feathers J.B.'s work i like it more than a clean solid linework on J.B.
