"I know a lot of folks offered to help with this, but I found Rich's offer, so I'm piggybacking off of it" - Matthew Carpenter

Matt,

A few suggestions:

1. Never allocate 100% of the ram to PS as it will slow the computer down significantly. I usually allocate 70% because I tend to work on large files but most professionals say 50% is good, especially with the amount of ram you have.

2. Yes it is better to have your scratch disk separate from your start up. If reformatting is not a problem then I'd suggest doing that but make your scratch disk at least 10 gigs, and up to 20 if possible. This does not mean you can't use the scratch disk for some storage, just don't use it to run any other software, such as the operating system. If you can get another HD and dedicate it, that would be even better. An external drive is ok but an internal one will be speedier.

I don't recall which version of PS you are using but I have noticed that PS CS 1 can be "wonky", which is why I also have version 7 installed. PS CS 2 supposed to address some of these issues but I haven't heard anything as of yet.

You seem to have enough power to get the job done it just requires a little tweaking. If I can be of any more help let me know. If needed, to save space here, you can e-mail me.

Guys,

I know this is off-topic, but since JB doesn't visit this forum and since you've all become my bestest forum buddies, I don't mind asking you a QUICK question:  where can I go to most appropriately talk about my recent JB-related purchases??  Got some nasty-hot goodies online lately and want to share with the board.

Thanks!

(P.S., which of you guys is the HOTTEST! or at least has the best legs... it's art-related! I swear!! hehhehe)

James - like your Batman.

I think you and Justin have a great old school feel to your stuff.

Rich - THANK YOU for the tips!  I am running CS 1.  I'm thinking about taking my kids second HD and installing it instead of reformatting the whole drive.  I'm also guilty of -crazy- multi tasking, but I think my machine should be able to handle it.I will let you know how it goes after the tweaks you've suggested.

In the meantime - color study in pencil

Really nice coloring job Matthew . I liked where you choose to add the yellows when i first drew it i wasn't really thinking of him having the traditional  colors that Iron-Man usually has. I was thinking various metallic shades of red. However i see from your work on it that it would be a mistake not to have the yellow. Really nice job
