JB, seventeen issues and the last two pages still have me on the edge of my
seat. I love the original run of X-Men, and to see you revisiting these
characters with years of artistic experience under your belt is an absolute joy.

As the year comes to close, I want to thank you for one of the few bright spots
during a hard year. I read your original run of X-Men when I was a kid, during
the years I was living in the southern US after growing up in the north. It
wasn't easy being a New Jersey yankee in Arthur King's Hog Farm,* and those
stories really helped.

One word that comes to mind with the scope and experience of reading this
series: EPIC!

*Apologies to Mark Twain

The last two pages of this issue are crazy fun. So many characters that I think everyone was hoping to see in the latest JB art era. Looking forward to issue #18 and 2021.

I'm enjoying a Neal Adams vibe from today's first page, especially from Jean and Gladiator in panels 2 and 5.

Happy New Year, JB!

Thanks, JB, for all the words and art you've given us this year. I appreciate how much time and effort must go into it. Big thank you!

Gladiator and the rest of the Imperial Guard are much more than the X-
Men can handle.

(insert extreme jaw drop here)

........Wow!

If there aren't any objections I'm going to 'see' that Angel uniform as dark blue with white.

Jeez, I go away for a few days and look what happens!

The Imperial Guard confronting the X-Men (again).
The sliced-and-diced D'Bari not quite as dead as believed.
Wolverine doing his best to comfort a person in distress.
And a favorite "What If?" comes to life!

What a day to come back to ELSEWHEN!

Happy New Year, everyone!

Love this series. Sooo  much fun.  I remember seeing these X-men designs from the Art of John Byrne and was always fascinated with the alternate designs/concepts like the Beast with Wolverine claws or Angel with a sword.  Thank you Mr. Byrne.  Can't wait to see what you have in store for us in 2021.  Happy New Year.

WRT the various designs featured in 'The Art Of John Byrne (Vol 1)' - is the new cyborg version of Oracle in any way inspired by 'Galatea' (p.25 of the aforementioned tome)?

And any chance we might see the alien-looking super-being on p.7 in the pages of 'Elsewhen'?

SO looking forward to the next issue - thank you and a Happy New Year!

Assuming those are artificial Wolverine claws on the Mirror Beast, it could be very painful and messy if they were accidently triggered while he is walking on all fours, palm down, as shown in the last panel. If I were him, I would take to knuckle-walking like a gorilla.

IF he’s walking palms down, IF the claws are “accidentally” triggered.

That’s a lot of effort just to overthink it.

Yes, I am like that. More than a bit paranoid. I go back and double-check that doors are locked and the stove is off.

Having three spring loaded blades aimed at the backs of my hands would feel a lot like a loaded gun pointed at my head.
