Mutants!!? What the!?!•• Any living thing can mutate, right? As I've noted before, as soon as Chris was off the leash, free of Len Wein's plots, he slipped off-model. His first story on his own was the X-Men battling a demon. (Later came aliens.) With Shaman's observation, I slip in a small "fix" to suggest that in battling the N'agarai the X-Men were, indeed, up against mutants, as they are supposed to be.

This explains so much. Mutant demons hardly more than a stone's throw from Xavier's School, and not one was ever offered admission. And the one who dropped by on Xmas to say hello to the new student -- well, the Blackbird's exhaust was not the warm welcome he hoped for. No wonder they're upset!
