BTW — Vuk’s reference to the attack by the Imperial Guard got me thinking about how much time has elapsed over the past dozen issues or so. And it’s not much! The X-Men have been having a busy day!

I'd recognize that middle panel as Byrne even if I were decapitated. I hope the D'bari find some happiness when all is said and done. They've been through the wringer!

What type of vacuum bags are they using? D'sposable ones.
Love the invisibility effect and leaving a troublesome piece of asparagus person behind is a nice little plot point for the future. Could it spell trouble? Maybe. Maybe.
Poor Vuk!

The aliens outfits and technology, the foliage and scenery outdoors, the shadow on the ship... there's so many nice touches to look over! Each page, in fact, I find myself taking in all the cool artistic, creative touches.

A further note on what “counts” as backgrounds: there seems to be quite a few fans who expect detailed backgrounds in every panel. If these are not present, the cry of “doesn’t draw backgrounds” will again be heard thru the land.

Vuk's bottomless despair is poignant. It's not easy being a lightweight in a heavy-weight universe.

I think you do a good job of deciding when a background should be drawn or not. For instance, what would be gained by adding details to the backdrop of the first panel of today's page? It's already filled with everything the reader needs.

Re: Backgrounds. Hard to believe that was ever a complaint. And compared to whom? I'd say you've earned the right to sit back and let the quality of your art and storytelling speak for itself.
Establishing shots, sure, but backgrounds for the sake of detail just muddies the waters.
Also, I'm kinda curious just where this asparagus-people thread is going to lead.

I think with Colossus and Magneto, to some extent, it's a case of swings and roundabouts. In his metal form Peter is particularly vulnerable to Magneto but in his human form he's pretty much vulnerable to anything.
