I showed Airplane to my teen nephews last year and fortunately they loved it.

I saw AIRPLANE in the theatre, of course, but I mainly remember it in heavy rotation on HBO -- in the early days of HBO, when they showed the same movies over and over again for months at a time. 

Surely, we quoted it more than Monty Python....

There's a U.K. tv cop show called A Touch Of Cloth that is
very much in the style of humopour of Airplane/Naked Gun.
It's by Charlie Brooker, the guy behind Black Mirror.

I've been in something of a nostalgia trip over synthesizers of yesteryear. And that led me to reading a bit of the biography yesterday of Jean-Michelle Jarre and it was only then that I realised he was the son of the late legendary film composer Maurice Jarre. Can't believe I never knew that.

And then along with that fact, there is also this: 

The screenwriter of Tombstone, the late Kevin Jarre, was the step-brother of Jean-Michel Jarre.
