I'm 60 (turning 61 this summer) and had to confront the possibility of enforced retirement.
See, I'm a federal employee. Our office is facing the likelihood of a reduction in force (RIF), though some estimate that we hit our numbers with those who took the Deferred Resignation Plan; if so, we might not have one.
Even so, I'm about three to four years from being ready to leave.
I'll likely need to find something to make up for lost income but I'm not worried about the prospect--not yet.
So retirement has been very much on my mind this year. I hope to have a transition into this stage of my life that's as peaceful and enjoyable as JB's seems to be. (And I hope your retirement continues to be enjoyable, JB!)
