Gaetz has apparently just withdrawn from the AG nomination.

Better yet, Gaetz had already resigned from the House, he's completely out now.

The character issues are a plus - Trump needs people who have no ethical bottom. It still looks like the only Cabinet member that isn't a complete moral vacuum is Marco Rubio, so I'm now wondering what we don't know about him. Whatever it is, it can't be good.

He did win reelection for his current seat, so he could conceivably about-face on the resignation and still stay in office as-of the first of the year.
That, however, is not likely; whether due to the previous round of investigations starting to come to light, or due to new information that may come out. That nomination to AG was just the right nudge to make him flinch at the last minute before those documents were to be released last week. Resign so that that investigation would be dropped, and as a result he'd be backed into the corner, politically speaking. Dems don't (never did, never will) like him, and his own Republican 'teammates' get to see him for what he is.

I believe If Gaetz wants his Congressional seat back he will have to run in a special election for it, I don't think he can  just "un-resign"
