I'm going to pick out another page and give it a go. Thanks for the tip on the pens - I'll look them up!

Vinny, I've tried a number of ways, but here is the process I am using:

- Copy the image from the JBF

- Open it in Photoshop

- Change the dots per inch to 300

- Copy the 300dpi image and paste it into a new layer of a "standard" 11x17 comic page with full bleed lines

- Scale up the image to match where JB indicates the full bleed on the page

- Save a JPG of the pencil image so you can print it for reference

- Adjust the curves and/or levels to make pencils darker

- Paste the darkened pencils into the CYAN channel of a CMYK 11"x17" file to make the pencils into "blue line" JPG

I adjust the opacity of the overall file so the blue color isn't over powering. Also, as I get more confident with my inking I am able to reduce the opacity lower and lower. Right now I like 20%-25% opacity of the blue line file. Then I go to the local office supply, load some 300 series Strathmore Bristol board into their color printer and print away. Send me an email and I will send you the JPG files for a page as examples.

This has been my warm up page for several sessions now. I can't remember an image putting a more consistent smile on my face when I ink it. Finally finished it after about 5-6 sessions.Now time to tackle a complete page.

I've done this page several times. It is one of the best lesson pages I have ever had, but this is the last time for a while.

Paul, Your textures are coming along nicely. Lots of good stuff from leathery wings, to gore and foliage. That is a tough page and you handled it nicely. Here is my latest with all the tiny figures. Hopefully you can tell who is who in this battle.

Very nice page for you as well - and pretty fast! One of the things that I really like is your ability to ink machines. Very smooth and precise line work. Good job!
