Just finished The Pale Criminal by Philip Kerr. A noir mystery novel set in 1930's Berlin as the Nazis are gearing up for World War 2 and the holocaust. Not sure about it, thought the writing was excellent and I liked the main character but the darkness, the hopelessness, I guess I'd have to say I admired it but I didn't enjoy it. Might pick up more later but I'm going to give it a rest for now. Starting on Spacepaw by Gordon R. Dickson. I needed something fun to wash the taste of The Pale Criminal out of my head and decided to go with this one. Looks like fun but a part of my brain is worried there's going to be rape and murder and hopelessness and a plot to kill the jews. That's kind of a joke but not really, the Pale Criminal is really weighing on me in a strange way.
