I'm now reading "Running Blind", the fourth Jack Reacher novel.  I'm so disappointed to see that Reacher is being adapted into a movie starring Tom Cruise.  So wrong for the role.

Just finished The Pale Criminal by Philip Kerr.

A noir mystery novel set in 1930's Berlin as the Nazis are gearing up for World War 2 and the holocaust.

Not sure about it, thought the writing was excellent and I liked the main character but the darkness, the hopelessness, I guess I'd have to say I admired it but I didn't enjoy it. Might pick up more later but I'm going to give it a rest for now.

Starting on Spacepaw by Gordon R. Dickson.

I needed something fun to wash the taste of The Pale Criminal out of my head and decided to go with this one. Looks like fun but a part of my brain is worried there's going to be rape and murder and hopelessness and a plot to kill the jews.

That's kind of a joke but not really, the Pale Criminal is really weighing on me in a strange way.

I'm currently working my way through the works of H.P. Lovecraft, via a
massive e-book containing his collected works. What I've already read,
I haven't read since high school, and there's lots in it that I've never
read at all. The stories are compiled chronologically, and I've just
finished "Old Bugs". Of note - the stories are STILL effective at evoking
a certain...unsettled, uneasy feeling in this reader, especially tonight,
reading alone at bedtime in a creaky, 100+ year old house. Even "Old
Bugs", a non-horror story.

I'm still reading GREEN RIVER, RUNNING RED. It's a true crime book about the Green River Killer in Seattle during the early 80s.  Although I'm interested in the subject matter and Ann Rule has done exhaustive research, it's going on far too long.  At nearly 670 pages, I really feel that it could have been trimmed by 200 easily.  I'll finish it, but I think I'll pause before reading more of her work.

I am rereading SONG OF ICE ON FIRE. I am still on GAME OF THRONES after about six weeks, but am taking my time with it a chapter every few days. I read these books at a frantic pace the first time through so this more relaxed approach is enjoyable in its own way.

Just started WINTER OF THE WORLD by Ken Follett.  I've been anxiously waiting for this.  So far it's very good, and seamlessly picks up from FALL OF GIANTS.
