Speaking just for myself, I include a picture of the book's cover so that any members of the JBF who go looking for it will have a visual prompt to help them find it, either in a new/used bookstore or at their local library.

I love sports history, professional basketball in particular.  And the more obscure the better.

And it doesn't come much more obscure than this -

Waterloo did indeed have an NBA team in 1949-50 (as did Anderson, IN; Sheboygan, WI and Denver).  This is the story of theat season and how the small Midwestern teams were eventually muscled out by the larger cities.

You can do what you like, but I don't think it makes much sense. Anyone can find a book by title/author.  Often we just get a picture when you start a book.  I'm much more interested in what you think of a book after you;re done, especially if you recommend it.

I'm probably just jealous that you are so much better read than I am, James!  I'm a slow reader and don't do the volume that you do!

Dark Hollow,  by Brian Keene.

First book I've ever read by him, and it is.....interesting.

And I don't post covers simply because I'm too busy/lazy to go hunt them down and upload them.

Diving into some baseball stuff, since the start of the new season is just around the corner. Buzz Bissinger is best known for his book on Texas high school football (Friday Night Lights) which was the basis for both the movie and television series of the same name. This book, co-written with St. Louis Cardinal manager Tony La Russa, was nominated for the Casey Award as the best non-fiction baseball book of 2005. We will see how it stacks up.

Not sure what I'll be reading next, but....

I gave Dark Hollow by Brian Keene 4 stars on Goodreads. Just finished its sequel, Ghost Walk, 2 stars (since Goodreads doesn't allow half stars, or it would be 2 and a half). The ending felt rushed, the new hero character isn't all that interesting, and I didn't like the way the hero from Dark Hollow was treated (by the new hero as well as the author). Ghost Walk's lead hero is the star or two or three subsequent books, and I won't be reading those any time soon.
