I got that one, too, Shane!
****
Brian, if you're anything like me, you probably bought that and quite a bit more. I went in planning on spending only 100 dollars and spent about 140, but even with that there was more stuff that I wanted. I wish they'd had more JB stuff, but the only things I got there that were JB related was the World of Krypon tpb collection and a Tales of the New Gods collection containing stories by Byrne and other writers and artists. About to crack open that World of Krypton right now. Been a few years since I've read that!

This is an odd collection of short stories featuring the New Gods, several of which are written and drawn by JB. There are also stories from Mark Evanier and Steve Rude (from a Mister Miracle Special I believe), and stories from the Orion series by Walt Simonson, some of which have Simonson art, and some have art by other artists with Walt writing. The art in the TPB is from such varied artists as Frank Miller, Art Adams, John Paul Leon, Howard Chaykin, and a few others. There's a never before published short Darkseid story by Mark Millar and Steve Ditko. All of the stories are quite enjoyable though my favorites so far have all been by John Byrne. I didn't realize before reading this I had never read the origin of Darkseid which is drawn and told here by JB. Also really enjoyed the Mister Miracle stories of his first century on Earth written and drawn by our host as well.
It would be great if DC would ever release a more complete collection of John Byrne's Fourth World and New Gods stories rather than the select few included here.

Pluto was always my favourite planet as a kid (I enjoyed its mystique and wondered just what was on that planet). So I'm about to start this:

It has been a very long time since I read anything by James Ellroy, but when I found out that he was starting a second LA Quartet series I decided I might as well see if it was going to be worth the wait...

Hey James,I love Ellroy's books. I have been waiting to re-read Perfidia until right before the next one but I don't know when it will be. I can't find any news.
I'm reading 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordan B. Peterson. I was completely unaware of him as a youtube sensation. I turned on the radio halfway into an interview, and was so intrigued that I pulled over and wrote his name down. Just getting into it, but interesting so far.

Charles:
Rumor has it the sequel to PERFIDIA will be released in hardcover this coming September with THE STORM as the tentative title. But that is not solid confirmation, so I will keep digging on my end.
I have read Ellroy's trilogy featuring detective Lloyd Hopkins and thought it was good stuff. But I really enjoyed the four novels in his first LA Quartet series, although they are so densely plotted that re-reading them isn't something I have considered for quite some time.
The last Ellroy novel I read was AMERICAN TABLOID, which was very good but by the time the sequel came out I had moved on to other authors. Maybe PERFIDIA can bring me back into the fold :-)
