Just finished "Vampire Stories by Arthur Conan Doyle" (thank you Borders). Of course, none of the stories feature what would be considered vampires these days: a man-eating plant, immortal Egyptian looking for a way to die, a possible ghost, several seducers with psychic abilities, a fraud or two. Enjoyable stories nonetheless with some good notations on the historical and literary context of them.

Have you read any of Moore's other books, Kevin?I'm a big fan of his - I've got them all, and even a couple of autographed ones.

Kevin, "Storm Front" is next in my queue as well. Though I may delve into "Flawless" by Scott Andrew Selby which is about the heist at the Diamond Center in Antwerp a few years ago.

I haven't read anything rip-snortingly hilariously stupid since the last von Däniken book I read years ago, so I might just have to pick up that Jim Marrs book from the library.
Right now I'm reading "Night of the Living Dad" by Sam Delany. It's a great, amusing and insightful read for any of the new fathers out there...

Mike O., no I have not. I got "Lamb" as a gift at Christmas and I just got around to reading it. I really enjoyed it, but not nearly enough to search out his other books. At least not immediately.

I picked up Bossypants last night after work. Devoured the whole book in about 5 hours. So yeah, it was pretty terrible. I kid; it's a fun, quick read. Not as in-depth as I had hoped, especially from one of the more witty voices of cultural criticism during the early part of the decade. Very funny, though. I did find her surprise that men would buy (instead of stealing) her book surprising. Most Tina Fey fans I know are men.

I just finished "Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal" by Christopher Moore. Hilarious book and one I definitely recommend, regardless of your religious beliefs! Sorry, I read this last summer -- granted, it was pushed on me -- but I didn't find it all that funny. I thought it was well-written and plotted, but the humor just didn't work for me.

My wife, a HUGE fan of vampire fiction, tried BITE ME by Moore. Hated it. Made me decide that I didn't need to read that one right away.

Just started PACKING FOR MARS by Mary Roach.
Mildly interested in the science, and Roach is an author JB has been recommending, so picked it up.
Just 20 pages in, and it is at least an always mildly amusing glimpse into what it takes to go to space. Not necessarily in-depth, but informative.
Let's see what happens when I get past chapter 2.
