HARVEY by Mary Chase

I've seen the Jimmy Stewart movie many times, but this is the first time I've read the original play. There are differences, of course, but mostly they spring from the film not being confined to a stage. So far, there are no signs the film made changes at the expense of plot or characters.

And how are you, Mr. Wilson?

Read HARVEY years ago and couldn't have told you it was by Mary Chase.  There's the answer to a trivia question for you.  Wonder if she had any other hits?

Currently reading THE COLORADO KID by Stephen King, which is supposed to the basis for the TV series called Haven that airs on the SyFy channel.

Prior to that I finished BLUNT DARTS by Jeremiah Healy and FATAL DECISION by Carlo D'Este.

After Mr. King I am going to read CLEA'S MOON by Edward Wright, the first in his John Ray Horn mystery series.

Still have 30+ books on my "To Read List" for 2015.

I purchased the four 4th World Omnibus paperbacks to read the saga from start to finish. Kirby created a saga that was considered a failure by DC at the time.  Each time it was remade with different creative teams; they couldn't capture the energy or spirit of the original issues.

Marvel Comics, The Untold Story by Sean Howe.

I found it well written, but I had to supplement it with lighter material, like Lee Child's Jack Reacher short stories and Philip Jose Farmer's World of Tiers series.

The constant profit above all else, detailed in MCTUS, by Marvel's owners, directors and personalities, while reaping the creative talent and the fan boy consumer, was despairing.

Next up is "Young Romance2" a hardcover restoration book of Joe Simon's and Jack Kirby's romance comics.

Marvel Masterworks # 24 with Uncanny X-Men # 111 to 121

Great John Byrne artwork.  I read it in one sitting and wanted to see Byrne's entire run on the title. I was surprised Sean Cassidy/ The Banshee didn't have more conflict with Wolverine.  They were both very strong willed personalities.

Is it true that originally Colossus was supposed to lead the X-Men? He's featured on the front cover of 1975 Giant X-Men annual like he's the leader of the group.  Is it speculation or true?

It stopped being X-Men for me when John Bryne wasn't drawing the characters.  When I see his X-Men commissions on this site, I try to imagine what might have been if he stayed with the title for 100 issues.

Tried reading Howey's WOOL, gave up 150 pages in. Dull, dull, dull.

Starting Steinbeck's THE PEARL today.
