Skin Game by Jim Butcher, which brings me up to date on the Dresden Files. I've been reading them back-to-back and am really saddened by the fact that I'll have to wait (almost a year!) for another installment.
Thanks very much - again! - to the JBFers who recommended it to me a while back!

Just finished THE FASTEST MEN ON EARTH: the Story of the Men's 100 Meters Olympic Champions by Neil Duncanson. I haven't seen many non-fiction works on the sport of track and field out there so this was a bit of a surprise when I spotted it on the shelf at my local used bookstore.
Current reading ANY MAN'S DEATH by Loren Estleman, the third book in his Peter Macklin suspense series set in Detroit. Although I prefer Estleman's ongoing PI series starring Amos Walker, this Macklin series is a nice diversion so far.
Up next are two more Walt Longmire mysteries by author Craig Johnson: HELL IS EMPTY and AS THE CROW FLIES. Should keep me busy through the end of next week.

Working my way thru Richard Stark's (ne Donald Westlake) Parker books, and just finished "The Rare Coin Score."
Nothing remarkable, tho still a slick little heist story; but it introduces Claire, whom I understand becomes a little more noteworthy later.
Also, updated for modern audiences, could conceivably be "The Rare Comics Score" with the talk of dealers tables, collectors and the like. But, having said that, not enough talk about promoting movies and such, so maybe if it was updated in the 70s..? nah, nevermind

I'd be interested in seeing what the people on this thread currently/just read "Dune" think.
Read it back in the 70s and didn't care for it. Was I wrong?

Just finished reading the last of (the written-so-far) George R Martin's Game of Thrones books. I became hooked on the TV series and, as a result, moved onto the books to help sate my addiction in between seasons as they're being filmed. All we need now is for George to complete the final volume . . . Beautifully written volumes . . . very difficult to put down once you start reading them!

Funny. I always keep a Game of Thrones book close to my bed table when I want to sleep. A friend offered me the first book and I had the hardest of time to finish it. Didn't bother with the rest,or the TV series.
Right now I am reading Feet of Clay (Disc World). I finally decided to try Terry Pratchett and I regret not having done it earlier : aready my 19th book from him. Great stuff !
