Last night I dreamed I was at John Byrne's house with some other people. He had a stack of drawings he said we could use for "practice inking" (not his own drawings, but copies of pencils). He was so impressed by my inking he gave me some ice cream!

I had a very similar dream where I was a houseguest of Paul McCartney, and he'd left out a bowl of chocolate mints because he knew it was my favorite candy.

I dreamed once I was at John Byrne's house.  For some reason, he yelled at me for rummaging through his outside trash can and asked me to leave.  In real life, though, he's a very nice person.

Just seeing this thread for the first time. The refs to a young, Brad-Pitt-ish Bernie Wrightson and people dressed up like superheroes immediately flashed me to the surreal but mesmerizing Brave and the Bold 237 from 1970 written by Denny O'Neil and drawn by Neal Adams which, too, was based on a dream featuring a young Bernie Wrightson (not a dead ringer but certainly buff and handsome, an approximation of Pitt with longer hair earlier in his career?) and people garbed in superhero costumes.

...Only this version of the dream was experienced by O'Neil some ~55 years ago.

The left of the four people walking together in panels two and three is apparently a 22 year old Bernie Wrightson (the others are reportedly Gerry Conway, Dick (Robin) Grayson, and Alan Weiss).

The fellow in the third panel center with the glasses and hat is definitely O'Neil.

O'Neil even wrote about the dream that became B+B 237 in the lettercol.

Definitely OT so apologies but I appreciate Adams' fun with Marvel in a DC book, showing the Thor costume with a literal claw hammer obviously grabbed in lieu of mjolnir by the Halloween guest as well as the other unnamed but clear refs to Cap, Spidey ("webslinger"), and even Havok. Also, some Batman costumes have similar pouches on the utility belt as used by Miller some ~13+ years later in Dark Knight Returns. I know FM was a Batman reader growing up so I wonder if he saw this issue and filed that idea away for later use.

I think you mean Batman #237 from 1971.

Yep, thanks Colin! Was thinking of Adams' glorious Batman run on B+B (which was actually late 60s) and conflated the two. Must've been dreaming as well!

JB posting about his War of the Worlds childhood nightmare reminded me of an intense nightmare I had the night we went to see Star Wars. A little context - this was a fairly tumultuous period during my childhood, shortly after my parents divorced. My father (who had just gotten custody of myself and my sister) took us to see the film in Manhattan, which was also somewhat crazy. So I was generally fragile and directly wound up. And I was one of those kids who REALLY got enveloped by films, for better or worse. And seeing a galaxy far, far away on the largest screen possible was likely just an extremely intense and unprecedented experience for me, though I can’t recall the screening itself.

Anyway, the dream itself: It’s night. I’m standing on my front porch, and I can see a large and happy family gathering is going on in the living room, though I’m completely separated from it. I start to go down the side steps and see the head of C-3PO bobbing along the side of the house towards me, eyes glowing in the dark. I panic and run down the length of the porch to the front door, but can’t get in.

I was six at the time, and this is one of my earliest memories, btw. And definitely one of my sharpest.About twenty-five years later, my wife and I bought the house from my parents and we still live here. And when I go down the side steps to grab the trash cans at night, I’m still a bit freaked by that dream.

I woke up this morning in the middle of a somewhat recurring dream where I
have lost my phone and am in a panic looking for it. I’m always in a public
place and always have a fear someone’s stolen it. Upon awakening, I always
reach for my phone on the nightstand to make sure it’s there, but am still
quite anxious.

Weirdest dream I had, and it was a recurring dream.
I had started to drive minibuses - so higher vehicles than I was used to.
I had also started to travel, a lot, on planes.

So I had this dream where I was flying a really tall, vertically, but really thin,
like two seats wide, plane. Between narrow buildings.
Clearly my brain was processing the two things together and conflating
them.
But I had that dream soooo many times.

Other recurring dream, about the same time, was of me leaving my new job
and going back to the job I had left after 15 years.
Again, nothing deep for anyone to analyse there.

Strangely, psychologists have found people’s smart phones never work in dreams.  Chime in if that is not the case for you!

I dream several times a year I am back at university.  There is a math course I have never attended classes for, and the term is half over, so I am concerned.  I guess this a mild version of the common sitting down for a final exam you have never studied for dream.

I still, still, STILL have a recurring dream where it's finals and I haven't been to class all semester.   It varies on the class, etc but why do I still have that when I haven't been in a classroom in 25 years?

Had similar recurring dreams for years. Slight variation, I had to go back to high school at my age then because there was some mishap and I had to retake some final tests.

Read something about it, it's a common recurring dream for people who suffer from anxiety.

Another one I had for many years with slight variations is being in a party or gathering and a very famous person who I admire a lot shows up (in my case ex-footballer Diego Maradona who passed away some years ago), and I get anxious about approaching him for a picture, when I finally gather up the courage, the phone doesn't work.

I don't what's wrong, I apologize profusely, it still doesn't work, the guy is starting to get impatient... and I wake up screaming.
