Thanks for the comps, Dave. Here's my scoop, I worked for a number of years as an illustrator and production designer and for companies like; Hallmark cards, Lucasfilm, Dreamworks, Electronic Arts, Adobe, Atari... etc... all kinds of companies and publications. At one time, around the time that I met JB at the convention that is now in question from the other thread, I was very interested in getting into the comics industry and had worked extremely hard to get my sample pages together to show off my talent. But by the time that I started to get the interest in my work that I was wanting to hear, I'd lost interest in the industry, as it had changed from the fun comics that I had enjoyed as a kid. So, back to school I went, to become a REAL illustrator and not just one who drew comics (no insult intended here.) Collage was great and I am sooooooo glad that I did it (Yes, this IS advice to all of you who have considered collage, DO IT! Nothing quite beats having an academic education.) Still, none of this means anything unless you LOVE what you do and as I got deeper and more committed to my art, and getting paid lots of $$, I suddenly lost interest in it because of the pressure that came upon me. So, I got out, but not completely, and went on to make $$ in other ways... and I am now retired. Something I could never have done, I believe, as an artist. These days, I occasionally do concept work for a variety of folks, mostly people/companies that I have worked for in the past, who enjoyed my work and for whom I loved working for, and they pretty much give me carte blanche to do what I want. Not always, but when they do, it's pretty ideal. :)
That's the short story and I'm sticking to it!
BELOW: because you guys seem to like this stuff - is a concept piece for EA and, the other, a storyboard panel from a commercial that was done for SEGA's "Dreamcast" game console, from back when PDI/DREAMWORKS had a commercial F/X department.
Too bad JB locked the "BYRNE VICTIM" thread, as I'd found the pencils of the panel in question that clearly shows the correct spelling (insert smile here.) But further discussion of such things, it seems, would only get him to put a lock on this tread, as well.
Enjoy,

Then why risk it here? You could have told us all the cool stuff about your education, work and career without mention a word of that.
