(And poop on later “talent” who made her lumpy and brutal. Hulk with boobs. Marvel: the House of Idea.)

Ah yes. Jason Aaron's physical and mental makeover of the character was... unique.

I'll go with the West Coast Avengers.

I think they got a little too zany with Englehart writing the book and Milgrom's art really turned me off.  But JB beefed up the lineup by bringing in some favorite members and bringing in Jim Hammond (so the group no longer felt like the "B Team"), but unfortunately the run was cut short.

I can't think of a character JB didn't spend time with that he didn't make better, often radically than what came before.
He's just a natural at storytelling.
X-Men, Fantastic Four, She-Hulk, Namor, West Coast Avengers, Hulk, Superman, Next Men, Spider-Man, Doom Patrol... seriously, I feel like every title he's done has expanded the characters and given us stories about *them,* not some generic superhero story with the book's characters slotted in.
It's a rare talent.
Thank you, JB.

I think I just heard the room echo with, “So say we all”.

Yes, agreed!

Another favorite of mine that wouldn’t be, otherwise, is OMAC.

Hands down: Superman

I'm another life-long fan of the character, marveling at
George Reeves' portrayal when I was 6 years old. Prior to
JB though, the books held no appeal as he was juggling
planets and using super-ventriloquism.

Thanks, JB.

Visually, I think if JB touches a character there's a VERY good chance that his take becomes the visual definitive version.

I tend to echo on the plotting/ writing side what I've been hearing from you all- She Hulk (even in FF and even more in the solo book), SUperman (made a character being written by the numbers at best and real boring at worst into an exciting and dynamic character again), and Doom.

Also helped get the Power Man/Iron Fist duo established which lasted a long time!

Doom Patrol

His version is so much better than what it became. The brand of being so obnoxiously weird and quirky that you have to be high on some kind of drugs to understand and enjoy it. Making it niche. Which of course, the recent  TV series adapted. And the idea that Niles Caulder caused everyone's accidents.

I recall watching a speech Morrison made high out of his mind at some convention in front of devil horns, rambling about how he's been to other planets and whatnot. IMO, I liked some of his work. But most of it is just too weird. Was not a fan of his X-Men run, where he made Cyclops cheat on Jean with Emma and just created a bunch of really weird mutants. Hey, it's a little girl who looks like an old lady. Hey, it's a telepath who is just a brain. Hey, it's a guy who looks like a giant bird. Oddly, he seemed to understand the Marvel Family at DC and wrote them like their classic selves. And brought back the classic Justice League line-up. But drugs have strange effects on people I guess.

Hated Morrison’s X-Men, primarily because of the Scott/Emma thing. Will
never accept that.
