The ARTISTS EDITIONs are targeted at that narrow slice of fandom who truly appreciate comics as an Art Form. There are precious few of them, unfortunately.

I'm sorry to see that you don't seem hopeful this will be published; obviously, I hope the circumstances change.
I'll take what I can get, but I personally hope this is published in serialized comic book format AND as an Artist Edition book. I'll be shattering my piggy bank at the mere hint of ELSEWHEN getting the AE treatment.

I just wish those ARTIST’S EDITIONs weren’t so expensive. There’s more than a few of them I’d like to have but just can’t afford.

Random questions, if i may:
1. Back in the day ( circa 1980) was there ever an idea to reunite the original team ala "X-Factor" as either a spin-off book or story arc?
2. Did YOUR Caliban have an origin story figured out and when would we have seen him?

I just wish those ARTIST’S EDITIONs weren’t so expensive. There’s more than a few of them I’d like to have but just can’t afford. ••• I don’t think there’s much overage. They cost what they cost. (I’m reminded of when Marvel started doing the ESSENTIAL volumes, and people complained they were too expensive, especially not being in color. Several times I pointed out that color would pretty much double the price.)

Ha ha, "back of a '56 Buick" - ain't that the truth?
With the sorry state of comics today, the Artist Edition, and their cousins, are my favorite books. They make me feel like I used to when I was a kid and would bike to the newsstand as fast as I could to see what was new. Love them!
Seeing all these Elsewhen pages also makes me feel that way. I never thought in a zillion years we'd ever see new X-Men from JB. Wow.

I'd happily buy an Artist's Edition of these pencils!
If Marvel doesn't publish this series, I hope IDW is still a possibility. I know they were also interested.
I'm still hopeful we'll see this comic on stands later this year!

True! Marvel's Epic Collection line is pretty much a color version of the Essential line. Epic Collection volumes mostly have a $35-$40 cover price vs. the $20 cover price that most Essential volumes had before Marvel stopped making them.

Devils advocate - one hundred copies of a $395 reprint (with an illustration) sold out in around two hours. I think someone in IDW Marketing can find a way to sell NEW JB X-Men stories.

Good point, Jason. I would completely grab an artist edition of the pencils like many of the people here, but would like to it to be the first regular comic book
