When drawing a character like the Thing, it’s perfectly okay to bring one’s own artistic tropes to the table—I do!—but it must always be remembered that the final effect should be as if all the artists are looking at the same “live model”.

Not sure. I doodle him now and again, still searching for a properly monstrous version.

Of course, here I’m working with his 1980 version, pre-me.

In the process of buying this page right now, should have it in a few months. That third panel is probably my third favorite Byrne Thing image (behind the sitting in the cab seat panel and the pin-up from one of your earlier issues).

Second is supposed to be Dick. Third is meant to invoke George Bell (Roussos).
