"Thong or no thong? YOU ask him."
Uh, no thanks. I'd like to keep my head attached to my neck. I hope NECA makes figures from the movie poster (with Conan raising his sword and Valeria kneeling.) Often the independent toy companies want to save the best stuff for later but never get around to it before a line is cancelled.

That war paint Conan looks great! Does it have any articulation? I'm guessing not from the looks of it.

I did the upcoming Mephisto for Randy Bowen...sculpted it digitally and had it rapid prototyped, then molded and finished by hand. Also did the Iron Monger for Hasbro's IM Movie line and other stuff...Thought this might be of interest here as I see Mr. Byrne's got a lot of 3D work on his site..
and here's the actual printed piece...

Digital sculpture has come a long way...
I'm a comic fan from way back and JB's work completed the holy trinity of Kirby, Adams, and Byrne that was my primary influence as an artist.
you can see the digital sculpt of mephisto and more hero sculpts here...
http://www.freewebs.com/black_irish/index.htm
Not trying to self-promote here...Mr. Byrne was one of my biggest art influences growing up....my day job is designing and sculpting coins for the US Government and I do hero sculpts at night...Just posting to show Mr.B what his efforts helped shape for better or for worse!

Joe Zhang,
I thought the same thing exactly!
It says 'Series 1' so I'll keep my fingers crossed just in case.
Valeria would be great!
Joe Hollon,
His head and hands, but that's it.
Plenty if you ask me.
I've been wanting something like this for years, it looks great.
(edit to add) His necklace is on a thread, technically removable.
nice touch.

I watched CONAN about a thousand times on cable in the 80s. If I see this, I'm getting it.

Randy's Frankenstein head is beautiful.
Love the Necca Conan, too...especially the expression in the eyes.
So often a paint job can kill a sculpt but this rocks.
Don't know if this has been addressed but it would be cool to see a JB line of figures from DCD. I know they did a supes. JB's stuff totally lends itself to heroic sculpture. I think I recall a shot of him in his studio way back with a classic Houdon ecorche statue (anatomical model) by his drawing board so maybe sculpture's influencing him, too!

••
With GENERATIONS I handed them a whole universe of toys, many of
which could have been created from existing molds! Why they chose to
drop that particular ball remains eternally beyond my comprehension!

Yes, this guy. . .
I've had it (albeit, a damaged one, minus arms from the elbows down)
since my Art College days. Recently acquired (and previously posted)
this. . .
…which I have standing next to my drawingboard, and which I find
servers me even better (perhaps its the color).
One of the greatest influences of recent vintage, tho, has been the 3D
modeling I got into quite heavily for several years. Most especially
figuring out how to "sculpt" cloth has had a profound effect on how I
draw it.

WELCOME Joseph Menna --- absolutely amazing work.
PLEASE tell me (us) more about digital sculpting (maybe start a new thread to not bog this one down).
THANKS
