Well, the good news is, the article in the paper says JRJr will be doing sketches for free and will also have a poster for sale at the con. I'm definitely heading to his line first.
Oh, and I'm going Saturday. I just hope the ticket line isn't halfway down the street when I get there.

Love JRjr. Have since X-Men 175. I only had a couple of his Spider-Man issues at that time and really fell in love with his art on X-Men. Anything he does will get bought by me. ( Well, when I get to start buying books again.)

I can't remember John Romita Sr doing any DC work either. Oddly enough, I
never noticed that before.

I have been a huge fan of John Romita Jr for about 20 years. But I have to say his latest work leaves me cold. The first Hulk run and this Eternals work looks rushed and lacks his usual polish in my view. In fact unless you told me it was the same artist I would never suspect it because the look is so different. Perhaps he needs a better inker like Bob Layton. John Buscema's later stuff looked very similar to Romita's as it too looked like it need better inking. I hope his next go on the Hulk will look better than his last. But the preview pages don't give me any reason to think that.

I know Danny Miki inked his Eternals. Personally I would keep Bob Layton 100 feet away from Jr.'s art at all times. If I want Bob Layton, I'll just let him draw something, not redraw what anyone else put down in pencil first. Those two pieces are night and day. I'll take that Eternals pose over the Iron Man one. I like the Iron Man one, but it is not a good example of John Romita Jr.'s work.

JR JR's Thing looks strange. I think he might look better if inked by Janson and not Scott Hanna (sp?).

There will probably be a long line, but it will move very quickly.
I was manning a table next to John's at a convention in Hayward, CA a few years ago, and the line for him was about 20 people long from the moment the con opened to when it wrapped up seven or eight hours later. The line moved at a pretty good clip all day long, and it was a small convention, but people just kept lining up to see him, so the line never looked like it was getting any shorter.
To add further to the list of "Reasons that John Romita Jr. is a class act," I'll mention that he hung around an hour after the convention hall closed in order to handle the last 20-odd stragglers in line who really wanted a sketch from him. This was *after* putting in a full day of non-stop signing and sketching for people. There was never a single lull during the entire day, and he *still* put in some extra time at the end to make sure everyone went home happy.
The one time he left his table was mid-afternoon when he needed a bathroom break and asked me to watch his table for him. I filled in and started making small talk with the people at the front of the line, and I swear that John was back at the table about three minutes after he'd left it, ready to dive right back into sketching and signing. He'd more than earned himself a 10 or 20 minute break (or a full-blown lunch break, for that matter) by that point in the day, but he didn't want to keep any of his fans waiting.
Like I said before, a real class act.
