The art is very cool, but what's with the colors? Hulk looks sea-green??
Maybe it will be better in person.

When I came into collecting I had JB on FF, JRjr on Spider-Man, Zeck on Captain America and Cockrum on X-Men. Those were the days.

Brian, if you have a sketchbook bring it. If not, just bring a bunch of backer boards for guys to do quick doodles for you. Have fun, just remember twelve bucks can buy a lot of books from the 25 cent bins.

Oh, I've got a sketchbook around here somewhere, but its one I've had since high school (and I'm 36, so its about 20 years old) and is on the smallish side. I should have thought about that earlier than I did, because I had to go to the grocery store today and could have grabbed one there in the school supplies or made a quick run to K-Mart, which is close by.

And yeah, the 25 cent bins are what I had in mind. Also, my LCS is going to be there and hopefully will have a nice chunk of their back issue boxes there. They're boxed back issues are all cover price, and they do have quite a few 60 and 65 cent gems mixed in with the more recent stuff .  (I've picked up a few issues of JB's FF run that I was missing from there)

One of the guys I play City of Heroes with has a self-published comic out (he's the writer) and I was hoping he'd come, but I think he's sticking to Chicago area cons after going to one in Texas a month or so back.

"The Last Fantatic Four Story by JR JR with Stan the Man"

Hmm, that should be interesting. Don't remember seeing John Romita Jr
drawing the Thing in his new style. I wonder how it will look.

I had an inkling that JRjr has drawn DC characters (and I mean outside of crossovers like Batman/Punisher)  Has he?

Dennis, Punisher/Batman and Thorion of the New Asgods is as close to DC as he's come. Plus one creator owned Image mini-series called The Grey Area. Outside of that he's been a Marvel guy only.

I have never heard anything bad about JRjr.  That's fairly rare.  I liked his work very much when I first began collecting comics in 1984.  His work in ASM was about done, but I "discovered" him in X-Men (but I quickly started to devour his AMS work with Roger Stern).  He just seemed to get better in later years (like his work on Daredevil and forward).  He has a very distinctive style, but his storytelling is superb.  I may not have liked every story he's pencilled, but I've had no complaints about his work itself.

It makes me happy to see so many people really enjoy his work too.  Too often nowadays, it's just gripe, gripe, gripe.
