IMHO that would be an incorrect fact, not an opinion. As I said, this
thread seems to be confusing the two.

By that logic, religious belief isn't an opinion.

Personally I find it's good to confirm what you already know but can't remember off hand... like whether Goat's Head Soup was released in 73 or 74 for instance.

Well, it's easy for someone to change things (including things you already
know), I think the idea of Wikipedia is great, it allows the potential of a
great ammount of information to be readily available to the masses, but
the way it's carried out (allowing anyone to edit a page), not so great.

I get my music info from All Music Guide or Musicmatch. I've
found them to be quite all-inclusive and reliable. And for those
who like bias as a side dish for their data, they have reviews as
well. Man, I'm there like every day, several times.

JB was born in 1950 though, right?

Hope you're feeling better real soon, Matt.

And that's an absolute fact.

Roger replied: If I can't trust the source, the information is worthless as far as I'm concerned ...

What sources can you trust? No source is 100% trustworthy and thus all information is suspect. All sources come with built-in bias (and I'm not talking about 1+1=2 or that the Earth goes round the Sun type facts here ). To get a full rounded picture of any subject in my opinion, you should consult a number of sources.

However, to qualify the above, we all live in the real world where you have to accept things on faith as it is pretty tiresome to question everything all the time.  Maybe to use the word suspect is wrong as it implies hidden motives but I'm not sure of a better word.

If a crack addict living in a thirty cent a month apartment can edit the
article of Julius Caesar, then I think it is an untrustworthy source.

Edited because of mistake pointed out by Richard Callaghan

Is Wikipedia the information version of Napster? It seems like it. There are a billion other places to get the information contained in Wikipedia, most won't  veer into the slanderous. Just because Wiki seems to have the "power to the people" thing going for it, doesn't mean that the people running the site have any better moral center than anyone else. The opposite is more likely.

There's both good and bad to Wiki. I personally have found some stuff very informative. But let's keep in mind JB's entry was a boiling cauldron of battling agendas since day one.

What if it was a really nice apartment?
