Some day, when I have absolutely NOTHING better to do, I'll sit down & read their talkback page--- just a quick browse shows that those posters are UTTERLY full of shit.

The internet has proven itself the ultimate payoff for all those decades of all those parents who did not take the time to teach their children the most basic social skills. Welcome to the future.

What do you think, Joe? A tip of the hat to you from your buddy mikemel?

We're now discussing the use of the word "queer" in the 1980 interview and let me quote the words of my interlocutor "the dichotomy between the use of gay characters by JB in his stories and his behaviours towards them in the real life" . The politicly correct these days is really ridiculous. Lol, I think I enjoy the wikipedia Byrne talk to much.

 Big smile:(--------)

I object to any suggestion that I used the word "queer" in a 1980 interview! I actually said "faggot-queer-homo". Several times.

(I will confess I am most intrigued by the notion of a discussion of my "behavior toward" homosexuals in "real life". I was not aware I was under such scrutiny. I must keep an eye peeled for the hidden cameras.)

The Wikipedians....are watching YOU!

That could be a tag-line for a horrible sci-fi story.

The guy is talking about "The Comics Journal #57" published 1980. about Bob Layton's inks. He quote a long passage.

Anyway I answered, saying what I thing of the current Politicly Correct rule. and refering to the fact that there's the "The Boys will LIKE boys" thread here as a counter part of "the boys will be boys" thread.

Jacob P. Secrest answered too.

I think we have made our point clear.

I've just discovered this thread, which has since provided me with close to a half hour of laughter.

These kinds of attacks against JB only prove how huge an impact he has and continues to have in comics.  It's one thing for admirers of his to spend considerable time praising him or trying to contact him, but for people who dislike him (and don't even know him) or his work to spend so much time and energy on spreading negativity testifies to the fact that he plays a huge part in their comic lives, whether they be pros, fans, consumers, or media.

When I don't like some artist or entertainers work, I ignore him/her and that work.  I have to think that people that would go out of their way to say that JB is a sex offender and other rubbish must in some screwy way at least grudgingly admire him.  For instance, when a certain big time editor references JB during a con panel, I know that he really likes and respects JB and wants his approval.

That's some kind of power you wield, boss.

Leroy Douresseaux- When I don't like some artist or entertainers work, I ignore him/her and that work.

Just imagine if all the fanboys out there did this!
Personally I might say, 'I dislike Rob Liefeld's work because I think he's trying to be too flashy'. Others would say ' I think Rob Liefeld is a hack who deserves to be out of work and is a dickhead'.
It's frustrating being a comic book fan sometimes when you know there are too many readers out there who not only fit the stereotype of the comic book guy on the Simpsons but who also have waaaaaaaay too much time on their hands.
