 QUOTE:
Mike Zeck is a personal fave of mine. I know he went into toy design which was more lucrative. And his work (covers especially) are legendary. A lot of classic work of his is perennially in print. I wish he would come back for a project or two - at least a cover run.

He is basically fully retired. He lives in a condo in the metro Manila area of the Philippines, and signs stuff, but produces no art at all.

Edited to add: I am a big fan also -- I think he is an absolutely brilliant artist.

There were a lot of books being produced in the 90's and, with that, a lot of talented people fell by the wayside when the market constricted. Jeff Moy did five years on 'Legionnaires' but didn't get consistent work afterward, Darryl Banks did that long run on Green Lantern when Kyle Rayner was new but didn't have many opportunities past that - he's actually had more work in the shelves in the past year or so than he has in a long time!

Peter - Mike Zeck was the best big gun/80s style action cover artist IMO. GiJoe, Punisher, Deathstroke to name a few iconic cover runs.

As a fan I (selfishly) want to see more of their work.

John P - interesting post about the 90s implosion - it did indeed reduce opportunities for many creators.
