Likely, Trump will float a pardon. I think it would be foolish to do so during an election period, but it is Trump we are discussing.

The nice thing is that is was the postal service that arrested him.
And of course he’ll be pardoned. He doesn’t want Bannon being cooperative with any investigations.

Gee, I predicted Trump would claim he had no relationship with Bannon ("not for a long time")and guess what?...
Huh. That doesn't seem in character for Trump. Oh wait... I meant the opposite if that. This is very much like him.

If they're smart, they'll "slow play" any trial for Bannon to make sure the orange one cannot pardon him.

Kevin,
He could pardon him yesterday if he wanted to - see Ford's prophylactic blanket pardon of Nixon.

And now, I believe I see that Bannon is going to blow the whistle, and not go down alones.
Once again, I have my popcorn popping and my favored beverage cooling, in order to enjoy this fully!

Some forum user in Spain predicted that Trump was going to be re-elected.
Did he know what he was saying? I thought the polls were totally pro-Biden.

Polls tend to focus on nationwide feelings. Since 1992, there has only been one election where the Republican has won the popular vote but we've had three Republican terms (two George W Bush, one Donald Trump), so it's hard to think of those polls as a true indicator of who will be in the Oval Office next year.
Also see concerns about voter suppression.

H.L. Mencken said “No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.” I'd add to that "or underestimating the prejudice, racism, and self-defeating maliciousness." These are all major factors in why Trump in the first place. There's a very good chance he can get re-elected in the same way, by just appealing to angry older white voters in swing states.

If the Democrats get in and take power in everything, can they change the laws to avoid voter suppression or will it just be the same battle the next time? In Canada we have an independent election office that takes care of voting. They set the rules and the ridings and it is non-partisan. You never hear of voter suppression, carpetbagging, losing of ballots or closed polls in Canada. Why is this so difficult to do in the US?

Neil,
Assuming the Democrats win the White House, keep control of the House of Representatives AND take control of the Senate AND get rid of the filibuster (all this being a perfect storm) - then yes, they would have a great deal of power in setting rules, standards and providing/withholding funding for future election cycles.
However, you have to remember, when it comes to federal elections, the United States does not have ONE large election, it has FIFTY smaller elections each controlled by the individual states - the federal government has a limited oversight role to play - most often limited by the US Constitution to "time, place, manner" restrictions.
