Checking online, I found what Carmine's pencils actually looked like!!

YOIKS!!!

As many of you know I used to frequent United Housewrecking, a huge antique/consignment store in Stamford. They closed down a while back, and one of the owners relocated to a storefront downtown. I've stopped in a few times since I discovered the place.

I wandered in yesterday, discovering to some degree of disappointment that they've switched over almost entirely to patio furniture, all new.

Andy, the owner, was showing me some of their other goodies, and in his office in the back of the store he had a stained glass window he thought I might like. This piece was leaning against the front of his desk.

I immediately texted Jim Warden, my art dealer, to get his best guess for a price, and when I offered that to Andy, he took it. More than he'd paid, apparently.

This is not really a favorite vintage for Batman, but it does have historical significance, so it fits one of my three requirements for buying original art:

• Special to me

• Significant to the industry

• Both
