Apologies to you youngsters who don’t find this interesting. She covers exactly my English days (1950 to 1958) and I agree on almost all points.

I was surprised tho that the discussion of brown bread makes no mention of Hovis. This brand was a favorite in my household. A special treat even. Their ads declared “Don’t just say ‘brown’, say HOVIS!”
