Just arrived from my LCS and Japan...

Kotobukiya's Bishoujo Power Girl, flanked by X-Plus' 25cm-size Gorosaurus (1967) and Mecha-Godzilla (1974).

I like the Dracula, but I bought this one a few years back. . .

. . . and while the Bowen version is more true to Colan's drawings (and has a smaller footprint!), Dracula is not a character of whom I feel I need more than one representation!

(Okay, two, since I have Lugosi's upstairs in the TV room!)

Nice Dracula!

I have a soft spot for the character because of Mr. Colon's art.

Seeing things like this makes me want to look further into the Captain Action
line. There already are some nice sets for Captain America, Spider-Man and
Thor.

Other than Marvel who can give permission to do that?

Edit to remove Pic of commission.

I don't really know how this would work. The "gentleman's agreement" (ie, the publishers looking the other way) that allows freelancers to do commissions of copyrighted characters has a lot of gray areas.

I would not be surprised if NO "permission" was sought. The piece was probably just assumed to be clip art.

Certainly, I would have no interest in contesting this particular use.

Coincidentally, Jim Warden recently contacted me about Marvel having expressed an interest in using a commission piece as a cover. I told him that, since I consider the money I am paid for commission pieces to be a "buy out", that decision would properly belong to the owner of the commission.

(Heads up to the Byrne Bashers. This is your cue to run around foaming at the mouth, declaring me to be a "hypocrite" since I "won't work for Marvel" but I "allowed" this!)
