I went to see my cardiologist a while back, and had some tests (including a heart cath) done Thursday.

Guess what? I go see a heart surgeon next Thursday, because I have to have either two rounds of stints....or open heart surgery.

I am scared to death!

Brian, I've got 4 stents. I was fortunate not to have open heart surgery though. All I can say about it is when I had my procedure done, I felt so much better afterwards. You'll be on some medication for the rest of your life, but it's worth it.

Good luck!

Good luck, Brian. My father went thru something similar in his sixties and lived to be ninety.

I have had open heart surgery twice.  It’s admittedly a long recovery road, but what used to be ground breaking is now a routine procedure done approximately 2 million times annually all over the world (500,000 in the US alone).  I am happy to talk to you about it if you have questions.

If there can be any upside, it's that it was caught ahead of time. Spontaneous heart issues scare the hell out of me.

Brian,

I know the feeling.

20 years ago,  at the tender young age of 39, I visited a cardiologist due to having occasional chest pains and aching in my left arm. After having a cardio catscan where I had dye injected into my arteries,  it was discovered that I had some blockage where I needed quadruple bypass.

I broke down and cried once the doctor gave me the news.

The first 3 weeks after surgery was rough (had to sleep in a recliner ....was afraid to move around...), but recovery did go well.

The moment that I knew I got over the recovery hump was one night into my fourth week of recovery, I was home alone and able to lay flat on my bed. I slept without the use of the chest harness (and the stuffed bear 😁) and did not have any issues. I was out  for 9 hours straight.

As some of you have stated,  I was able to have a better life after my surgery.

Brian, YOU GOT THIS!!!!!🤜🏾🤛🏾

Doctors know what they are doing. It’s never as straight forward as we
think, but they know what they are doing.
