Well, since we're talking about Elsewhen's Cyclops, what's your opinion on the "hair showing" vs. "classic cowl" looks? Would you have ever changed Cyclops' costume to the "hair showing" look?

Scott’s personality feels very “traditional” to me. I’m not sure why he’d change his costume like that? Was there a reason given for the switch?

There were statements made at the time of the switch that they wanted Scott to look "less repressed"; literally let his hair down. I always viewed the traditional look as representing Scott's need to control himself / keep himself contained.

I just wish some readers would stop blaming the CHARACTERS for things the WRITERS make them do.Bad writing is no reason to turn a good character into a "hated" one.

And, seriously, "always"? From the first moment you saw the character?----------------------
well, I'm trying to remember my first comics featuring Cyclops and they are #102, 118 and 119 and the reprints of X-men 1 and 3 from Son of Origins and Bring on the Bad Guys tpbs. No costume for Scott in 102 as he's just taking care of Jean and yelling at Xavier, but in 118 and 119, he's a focused leader and his streamlined costume and visor coupled with his explosive power make him look like he's very much in control of himself despite his awesome power. Then you add on text from Stan's issues 1 and 3 where he's always worried about losing control of his blasts and my young mind made a connection between his costume and his personality. I actually hated the "hair showing" costume when it appeared cause it seemed like something Scott would never do.

For Hank, he had his big hands and feet showing and that expressed his lighter playful personality and Warren in the Neal Adams costume had his flowing locks and his face showing, both expressing his lighter personality. Scott was covered head to toe, contained, and it matched his more serious personality.

I think it speaks to Scott’s personality that his “personalized” costume introduced midway though the original run) was essentially the same as his school uniform, minus the yellow section of the tunic. As the no-nonsense field-leader of the X-Men and standard-bearer for Xavier’s dream, it makes sense to me that he’d continue representing the original look. The school uniforms symbolically represent the roots and core values of the team, essentially.

Speaking of Scott,
1. In Elsewhen, will you continue Scott's growth towards stepping out from Xavier's control / shadow? (didn't know if the seeds of that came from you or Chris)
2. Xavier has Magneto, Wolverine has Sabretooth, who would Scott's archenemy be?

In terms of costume designs representing code names, I feel anything that focuses on the "one-eyed" aspect of Cyclops and minimizes everything else seems like the appropriate approach. The open-top hair detracts from that.
