I'm only admitting I bought his stuff because this is the Internet and no one can throw actual monkey doo at me for saying so.
I, uh, bought his stuff too, back in the day (ducks to avoid monkey poo)...
So did I. I was young and had the money.

You should learn what "perhaps" means.
- John Byrne

Well, there's a response that reeks of desperation. Really? The word "perhaps" is your Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card? If nobody had called you on your original comment you would have gladly let the implication stand: Rob Liefeld would not have been popular without Gareb Shamus. As soon as somebody pointed out to you that the timeline didn't support such a notion, you not only copped out with "Well, I DID say PERHAPS, so you can't hold me to it..." but, of course, did it in the most condescending way possible.

Well, you can always tell when someone is getting hostile by when they
throw the F-word into things.
(As Scott Daggett knows about me when I get going on about guns! Yikes...)

That was an opinion.
You may think something is good...others may not. In your world view it is... In mine nothing could be further from the truth. In both cases those are our opinions and in both cases neither is fact.

This has very little to do with anything, but I just wanted to admit that I thought Trencher was a really good book. The art was off the hook and the scripts were hilarious. Just a fun title, in my opinion, but such a weird one that I wasn't too surprised when it got canceled. The only other title that I remember from the few that were famously canceled was Shaman's Tears. I was not a fan of that and never understood the hype about it. The art was nice though.

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.
Not that anyone is behaving violently, but I'm sure someone will get the gist...

See again opinion. I think and have always thought that Savage Dragon was crap of the highest order. Artistically horrendous and just plain stupid. My opinion of people who liked and even loved the book is that they were morons who had no idea what art was.

Just claifying, Eric. So this wasn't in response to my post, then? I'm not accusing you of anything, I just want to know if I was misundertood.

Thanks for the lecture, I surely needed another one. Some might say
that you are a self-righteous prick, but that would just be opinion.

I recall Wizard pushing the Image titles pretty hard back in the 90s. At one point, Wizard did have an influence on the industry, so I'd agree that exposure probably helped Liefeld's career to some degree.

Sure, Greg. Absolutely. It turned into a symbiotic relationship after a while, but Liefeld became a big name first. And he became a big name because a lot of people liked his artwork. They didn't have to be told to like it, they just did. The fact that he became a bigger name later on doesn't change that.

Right. It was hilarious and looked awesome. And I just can shake my head about it being canceled because the art wasn't what was expected. I suppose this wouldn't have happen at the "Image Comics" of today.
