Everytime I see a Rob Liefeld "piece of art" all I can think of is...

"MY EYES! THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING!"

None of which changes the fact that when Image decided to part ways with these creators, the creators kept their creations.

And the work they did on them, to exploit elsewhere as they saw fit.

That pretty much sums up your remark, Erik, about Savage Dragon
outselling a number of Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and IDW books. A
statement you made which you still seem unable or unwilling to clarify.
You and I both know you can't clarify said statement because it's simply
not true. Which leads me to wonder why you said it in the first place, if
it's not true?

Any look at any chart will tell you that it IS true. Why are you disputing
reality? Look at the sales charts--they don't end with Savage Dragon--
numerous books sell less than Savage Dragon including books from ALL
of the publishers I listed and yes--kids books count and adult books
count and Vertigo books count--they were all deemed worth publishing,
after all--creative people were paid, after all. And since the charts
typically stop at 300-- I can assure you there are 200+ titles that sell
worse than that. Savage Dragon turns a profit. I still make a living doing
the book. If that was not the case I would have to do something else.

http://www.comichron.com/monthlycomicssales/2009/2009-05.htm l

The latest chart I'm looking at has Savage Dragon at #220-- and
remember--that was the month a FREE version of this book was sent out
for Free Comic Book Day which we all anticipated cutting into the sales of
the pay version.

If you're going to call somebody a liar--you might want to first make
sure that they actually are lying first--otherwise you're the guy who
looks like a chump.

(And yes--I realize that you didn't actually call me a liar but you strongly,
and repeatedly implied it).

JB WROTE :Yes, they are. But unfortunately, Robert, what you are stating there are opinions, not facts.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>

You my friend are 100% right!!  i did word that incorrectly!! It is just my opinion!

With that said the man comes on here with an opinion of your work about "b" characters  you worked on and figures he could throw a few stones at it

when in truth he was given "b" books that he did not do well with! i feel in my opinion he should just drop this! why come on here just to provoke a community?

the real members of this board are big fans of yours JB this is our home! why come here to provoke and shake the jar of bees??

i just want to enjoy your work while you do it! God knows your not going to do this forever and everyday that you post some of your work is a blessing to some of us.

now i will take my dumb ass back to my gameshow thread

VICTOR WROTE:What exactly wasa wrong with his run on Nova. I followed the series in its short run and enjoyed it. I think its closer in tone to the 70s Nova series than the Nicieza run or the current series.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>

victor to be truthful i talk with alot of Nova fans no one cared for either

i thought in my opinion that his was the worst take on nova and the life of the book showed it as it was canceled after 6 issues

Still not seeing it, Erik, sorry. Almost all of the Marvel books on that list, which are placed below Savage Dragon, are - as I've pointed out already - restocks, or variants, or second printings. If you're referring to outselling the Marvel Adventures books - which shift the majority of their copies via non-Diamond methods, hence their low placing on this Diamond-sourced chart - then fair enough. And if pointing out clear facts which cast doubt on your remarks makes me a "chump" in your eyes, then again - fair enough.

Martin,
That's not what Liefeld originally did. He took his unused art from the Heroes Reborn Captain America and made some changes to the art and solicited it as AGENT: AMERICA who coincidentally had a female sidekick and an arch enemy call the Iron Skull. Marvel sued and Liefeld licensed FIGHTING AMERICAN from Kirby and changed the artwork again as an end run around the lawsuit. IIRC up until Liefeld published his version FIGHTING AMERICAN never had a shield.

AGENT AMERICA

This is my favorite thread about beating Dead Horses. They've pretty much all been brought up by now.

Not to nitpick, but I believe Liefeld licensed Fighting American from Joe Simon, not Jack Kirby (especially since Jack Kirby had died a few years earlier).
